How to Use the Pomodoro Timer
- Choose a phase using the tabs — Focus (default 25 minutes), Short Break (5 minutes), or Long Break (15 minutes). Adjust the duration for each phase in the input fields below.
- Click Start to begin the timer. The circular progress ring counts down visually, and the remaining time updates in the browser tab title so you can track progress even when switching windows.
- After a focus session completes, the timer automatically switches to a short break. After 4 focus sessions, you get a long break. A beep sound plays when each phase ends. Press the Space key to quickly start or pause.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Pomodoro Timer free?
Yes, PivaBox Pomodoro Timer is completely free to use. There are no charges, subscriptions, or hidden fees. All timing runs locally in your browser — no data is sent to any server.
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. You work in focused 25-minute intervals (called "pomodoros") separated by short 5-minute breaks. After every 4 pomodoros, take a longer 15-30 minute break. This rhythm helps maintain focus and prevent burnout.
Does the timer work if I close the browser tab?
No, this is a browser-based timer and stops when the tab is closed or put to sleep by your device. For long-term tracking, keep the tab open. The tab title updates to show the remaining time so you can monitor progress from other tabs.
